I was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas. My parents both worked at the family business, the Star Shopper, a local advertising newspaper. I grew up around a lot of strong, creative people, my parents and their friends were always playing music, trying new things, coming up with ideas, and working on projects. My dad has always been a tinkerer, he always has to be working on something, which I didn’t understand as a child, but now that I’ve grown up and found the things I love doing, I am the same way.
I love bright colors and loud patterns, anything that makes me feel childlike joy. Learning new things is one of my favorite things to do, and I love sharing the things I learn with others, especially in my art. Ever since I learned what a shark was when I was 4, I’ve been obsessed. The strength and misconceptions have been relatable and inspiring to me for a long time. I strongly believe in sharing my love for these animals and the ocean as they are in negatively impacted by human caused problems like climate change and overfishing. In the future hope to create some more pieces about the conservation and beauty of the world.
Throughout my life I’ve struggled a lot with my self-esteem, self-worth, and self-expression, art helps me with that in ways I don’t quite know how to put into words. Sharing my art is one of my favorite things to do. I put so many judgements and criticisms onto myself and my work, sometimes sharing with others opens my eyes to the beauty and talent in my art. My recovery and healing journey is one of my proudest achievements that I get to work on every day. I hope to share my experiences through art and some words to help others see that recovery from trauma and addiction is possible.
